We are more than halfway through the year and fast approaching our 1st year anniversary, but for now we have plenty to think about and tell you about for the month of August.

Beervana - August 22nd and 23rd

With just over a week to go Beervana is one of or some may argue "THE" Beer event of the year. Beervana offers something for everyone at all interest levels, and you can extend your own knowledge and "beer enlightenment" by getting tickets to one of the special seminar programmes. The wide range of craft beers offered at Beervana, are carefully selected by the Festival Director and the breweries to give visitors a broad selection of styles from brewers big and small. You will be able to sample different beers from Feature Brewery Bars, Brewers Bars and Beervana Bars.

This year we will be located at the Brewers Bar along with approx 10 other breweries. It's our first year here and we hope to see and meet as many of you as possible. For more information about the event and to buy tickets please visit www.beervana.co.nz

Official Sponsor - Nelson Events 2014/15

This year we have been invited to be the official beer sponsor for Nelson Events; an organisation that organises 9 core events throughout the year. For the sporty types amongst you, we are certain you will have heard and may have even participated in some of these prestigious events, but for those of you who are not so familiar here’s a little more information.

Nelson Events is run by 5 very dedicated individuals to provide community sporting events across the region. Graeme and Averil West began with the Nelson Women’s Triathlon 27years ago and have been introducing new events throughout the ensuring years. There are 9 core events, and include both running and walking on both road and trail.

The first event for the 2014/15 season will be the Sanctuary Run on August 23.

Featured Stockists

As part of our ongoing commitment and support of our local and national stockists we wanted to tell you a little more about the bars, restaurants and off premise establishments that stock and sell our beer. This month we have decided to start local with 2 very different bars based here in Nelson.

Rhythm and Brown - 19 New Street, Nelson

Working in hospitality is not just about serving food or drinks, its about great service, great products and a passion for creating that special atmosphere where people love to be.  After

managing a few award winning bars, the dream had always been to "one day" have his own.  That day came when Scott (and Resina) got their hands on a beautiful little building in New St.  With a love of great music and appreciation of beer, whiskey, coffee and chocolate...... Rhythm and Brown was born.  They proudly serve only local beers, wines, ciders and food from the top of the south and they only play great music on vinyl with the occasional live gig thrown in.  Rolling on twenty months now, Rhythm and Brown  just picked up the Wild Tomato Nelson Bar of the Year in 2014 Aronui Dine Out Awards and Scott (for the second year in a row) took out the People's Choice award for Beertender of the Year in the Beer & Brewer Magazine Awards.

You can find Rhythm and Brown at 19 New Street, opposite Deville.  Open Tue-Sat from 4pm till late.

Bel-Aire Tavern - 7 Tahunanui Dr, Tahunanui, Nelson

Bel-Aire Tavern is on of Nelson's specialty craft beer and hospitality venues with an impressive 27 taps offering a host of the finest craft beers in the region along with a superb choice of Nelson's wines, ciders and beverages. They are a "Free House" and privately owned and independent.

Bel-Aire Tavern was conceived by Ray Weston. The building itself has been furnished in the style of the original Art Deco building and is probably one of the best examples of this style of architecture in Nelson. Ray is not new to brewing and hospitality. He started brewing while at High School in New Plymouth and went on to make Mash brews in the UK. It was during this time in Europe he gained a taste for European beers from Belgian Ales to Czechoslovak Pilsners. Ray is really passionate at being able to showcase the best of Nelson's craft brewing industry.

Open 7 days a week. For times check out their FB page here
