It's been a crazy start to the 2018, with an amazing summer of sunshine, togs, ice-cream, pies and beers here in our Riwaka Hub. So much so that it has taken me until now to put some words down on paper!!! The weather has dished out a mixed bag of hot balmy days and torrential downpours to keep us on our toes. But all in all we have had a great summer so far. BUT it is no way near over and we have a fair few months of great weather ahead, which means one thing for us Festivals, Festivals and more Festivals.

This year we are kicking off the summer festivals with the GREAT KIWI BEER FESTIVAL. Held in North Hagley Park on Saturday 27th (this weekend) from 11am. We have decided to go it alone this year, so Simon, Jonas and I will be on Stand 06. We have some delicious new beers to try namely an American APA and also an Aotearoa APA plus we are bringing our very popular NZIPA and a little Berry Sour.

The very next day (Sunday 28th January) we will be attending the SARAU Festival, that is held right here in our back yard at the Moutere Hills Community Centre in Upper Moutere Village. It is the very first time we have attended the festival and we are delighted to be pouring a few of our summer faves.

Next up is the Nelson Wine & Food Festival , held at Middle Earth Winery in Brightwater. This year you will see us team up with our good friends at Middle Earth to create an awesome space for you to buy and enjoy your beers and wine. The event is on Sunday 18th February from 11am through to 5pm. Great music, great food, awesome entertainment for the kids so all in all it's a fantastic day out for all the family.

Finally and to round out the summer of we have Marchfest on Saturday 24th March. This year the organisers are mixing it up a little bit and have invited North Island breweries to submit a beer to the festival too. It promises to be another great family day out with great music from Hollie Smith, Joel Fafard and The Miltones to name a few. Held each year at Founders Park here in Nelson it all kicks off at 12pm.

To celebrate the end of an interesting and somewhat stressful year and ultimately to say thank you to our awesome team, we decided to do a team Skydive just before the Christmas rush. If I am honest, it wasn't exactly met with high fives all round, but  4/6 of us decided to give it a go. The other two (who shall remain nameless) decided to support the team by drinking a few beers from the ground! Fair enough we said. All in all it was a bloody awesome experience and one that may never be repeated by some. Nonetheless we are all glad we threw ourselves out of a plane from 13,000ft and the amazing team at Skydive Abel Tasman are truely the best team ever. Cheers guys.

Our Hop Hub subscriptions have been steadily growing and we would love to see more of you on board. The best thing about our beer club is that it really is the only way to get your hands on some of our tastiest seasonal beers. They are always brewed in small batches, which means there is always a limited supply.

As a Hop Hub member you will always get in first, so as Fresh Hop season is fast approaching we need to plan our Fresh Hop brews. Therefore all new Hop Hub members will need to be signed up by Wednesday 28 February to guarantee a taste of our Fresh Hop Goodness. Please spread the word as we wouldn't want anyone to miss out on the freshest beers of 2018.
